[Verse 1]
New Year's night in sixty-nine,
Two young hearts and everything ahead.
We walked the halls, then said our vows,
Nineteen seventy-four, the words we said.
Somewhere in that river of years,
I found the one who'd calm my every fear.

[Chorus]
Oh Gary, my Bunkie, my forever and my friend,
I'd choose you all over again.
Through the heartbreaks, the tears, the storms we drove on through,
There is nobody, nobody like you.
Our love is golden, tried and true.

[Verse 2]
You brought old engines back to life,
That thirty-nine Packard shining like a dream.
A Pantera for my birthday day,
Ridin' with the wind, just you and me.
When the mountain shook the summer sky,
We held our boys and watched it all go by.

[Chorus]
Oh Gary, my Bunkie, my forever and my friend,
I'd choose you all over again.
Through the heartbreaks, the tears, the storms we drove on through,
There is nobody, nobody like you.
Our love is golden, tried and true.

[Bridge]
You kept this family whole through every trial,
With patience, grace, and one forgiving smile.

[Verse 3]
Matthew, Andrew, camping under stars,
The dirt bike trails, the water and the cars.
Now Kylie, Miles, Adelynn all shine,
Grandbabies laughing, this sweet life of mine.
Forty years of workin', now we rest,
And every single mile has been the best.

[Chorus]
Oh Gary, my Bunkie, my forever and my friend,
I'd choose you all over again.
Through the heartbreaks, the tears, the storms we drove on through,
There is nobody, nobody like you.
Our love is golden, tried and true.

[Outro]
My Bunkie, my always, my everything and more,
I'd walk it all again with you, for sure.

A Beautiful story

  1. I can't remember a time when I didn't know you.

We met in the 5th grade, must have been 1961

We met in the 5th grade, must have been 1961

In 1961/"62 we were in Ms. Petersen's 5th grade class. My Mom was the room mother that year and the very next year in Miss Treibal's (years later she married & changed her name to Killian) your Mom was room mother and she would bring your baby sister Linda to the class parties. We went all through the grades together, North Pines Jr. High (they call it Middle School now) and on to University High, graduating in 1970. Our first date was New Year's Eve 1969. We went to the Ice Capades and then attended a New Year's Eve party to ring in the new year, 1970. And the rest is history as they say.

  2. We married in 1974

    A brief history...

We were off to a great start. We wed in 1974. Our parents became good friends as they had so much in common. Both of our dads were Dave Ramsey types. They had sound financial advice. We had just graduated from college and began new jobs and our future was bright. Our first child was born in 1977 and the second came along in 1979. Our first grandchild was born in 2005. "A Girl!" She was the first girl born into our family since 1958. That was when I retired from 32 years in banking (Sr. Loan Officer/Member Services.) I wanted to stay home and help take care of that baby girl. Two additional grandbabies followed. We had so much fun in those days. We enjoyed camping, boating, just being together with family was the best. We traveled to many Prudential family oriented conferences you won. We both retired at the age of 54. Gary continued to work emeritus to complete his 40th year with Prudential. Now here we are 2026 and we've know each other for 65 years and still going strong. I love you more now than ever - each year gets better & better, we are still making memories together.
